One of the four Gospel writers, Mark is believed by some to have been present during many of the New Testament’s events because of unique details like “green grass” in his writings. Some say he was the man who carried water to the house of the Last Supper. Others say it was his home where Jesus came after the resurrection and may also have been where Pentecost happened. Mark’s symbol is a lion because he describes John the Baptist “crying out in the wilderness” to herald the coming of Jesus.
