Baptism of Christ Statue

The Baptism of Christ is recorded in the Canonical Gospels according Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Most Christian groups view this event as an important event and basis for the Christian rite of baptism. When John the Baptist was preaching on the banks of the Jordan against the evils of the times, Jesus came to him and was baptized by John. This event concluded with the heavens opening, a dove like descent of the Holy Spirit, and a voice from heaven saying, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased."
