Fun Facts
- This woman was from a city that is now used as part of her name.
- She is mentioned in all four Gospels
- She was with Jesus when he died
Saint Luke mentions Mary of Magdalene as a woman from whom Jesus had cast out seven demons. Mary followed Jesus and helped support Him in His ministry of preaching and healing.
Mary Magdalene loved Jesus so much that she stood beneath the cross as He died for us on Calvary. On the first day of the week, Mary came to the tomb of Jesus early in the morning, and found the stone rolled away. She wept in great sorrow, for she loved Jesus very deeply. Jesus came up to her, and asked, “Why are you weeping?” Mary cried, “Rabbouni-my Teacher! Jesus told her, “Go to my brothers and tell them, “I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” Thus the Church honors Mary as the “Apostle to the Apostles.”
