In 2019 at the Mass for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis unveiled a new bronze sculpture to be added to the Vatican’s St. Peter’s Square, “Angels Unawares,” a depiction of migrants throughout history crammed together on a boat with the Holy Family.

A second cast of the “Angels Unawares” sculpture will soon be touring different cities around the U.S. beginning here at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels

The inspiration of the work arises from a passage from Hebrew 13:2 found in the New Testament: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”. This solid resin-stone cast is coated in a realistic bronze finish and is mounted on a solid matt black base. Timothy personally sculpts every original small masterpiece complete with his signature or monogram. Each replica is detailed by hand to the exacting standards of this modern day master sculptor.

ARTIST BIO:

For over 25 years, Timothy has been sculpting large scale sculptures. He is a figurative artist with his pieces installed worldwide. Some of his most reputed pieces are installed in historical churches in Rome and at the Vatican. Timothy describes his most important work as visual translations of the Bible. Although most of his work is based upon a spiritual theme, he also creates large, complex public sculptures in bronze. Some of these include monuments that honour veterans and firefighters. Timothy strives to create epic  artwork that connects with viewers through design and details that not only touch the viewer on an emotional level, but also allow them to feel somewhat a ‘part’ of the piece.
